MMA mats and cages

An MMA gym has several surfaces that do not live the same life: the grappling mat, the cage floor, the striking areas. Each has its seams, its stitching and its underside.

MMA surface cleaning treats the grappling mat, the cage floor and the striking areas with the same protocol of disassembly, dry steam and registered disinfection, adapting order and duration to each surface. The goal is the same as for jiu-jitsu: breaking the transmission chain of skin infections.

Dry steam applied to a training surface

Three surfaces, three loads

Treating all three the same way, in the same pass, avoids recontaminating a clean surface from one that is not.

  • The grappling mat: continuous skin-to-mat contact, the most loaded surface in the gym
  • The cage floor: canvas or vinyl stretched over foam, blood and sweat from sparring, seams against the structure
  • The striking areas: less skin-to-floor contact, but wrestling shoes, bags and gloves that drop whatever they pick up

The blood question

Sparring leaves blood on surfaces, especially in the cage. A registered disinfectant applied for the prescribed dwell time is part of the protocol, across the full surface and not only on visible stains. Routine cleaning between rounds is your staff’s job; the full reset is ours.

Cage floors and canvas

A cage canvas is treated without being removed: vacuuming, steam across the full surface with extra attention to the edges where the canvas meets the structure, disinfection, drying. Tiled floors are taken apart like a grappling mat. We confirm the method at the quote stage based on what you have.

Shared equipment

Gloves, shin guards and headgear lent to members are a vector just like the mat. We do not treat them, but the report leaves your staff a simple routine: disinfect after every loan, dry fully, rotate.

FAQ

What gym owners ask us

Do you treat the inside of the cage?

Yes: the floor, the edges and the base of the posts. Fencing and padding are wiped with the disinfectant if you want.

How long for a full MMA gym?

It depends on the number of surfaces and their area. We give you an estimate at the quote stage and the actual end time in the report.

Can you treat only the cage?

Yes. But if the grappling mat has never been taken apart, we will tell you: it is almost always the source.

Do you come in after a fight night?

Yes. A reset after a home event is one of the most common cases.

An outbreak costs more than a cleaning.
